The Promoter

The idea of a vineyard in Tahiti came to life thanks to a fortunate meeting between two wines lovers :
Mr Dominique AUROY, a wines fine connoisseur as well as a successful entrepreneur and business man who has been living in Tahiti for the past 35 years, and Mr Bernard HUDELOT, a viticulturist in the Burgundy region and a professor at the Vines and Wines University in Dijon.
It was Bernard who introduced Dominique to the techniques of mastering the vineyard vegetative cycle.
If on one side these techniques are not of too much influence in countries where the plant's growth is governed by the rhythm of the seasons, they play a key role in tropical countries as the absence of climatic variations generates continuous plant growth.
Confident with his knowledge Dominique decided to move on from the successful laboratory tests he had conducted to the implementation of these techniques in a real tropical environment. From that moment, the adventure began, Dominique and Bernard started the company AMPELIDACEES (VINE learned word in French) which quickly welcomed a few additional shareholders.
Back in 1992 the first grapevine cuttings were imported and the project kicked off to turn into what exists today… A vision turned successful thanks to Dominique and the highly devoted and passionate team they have since welcomed on board.
