Location
Tahiti Wines are produced on the atoll of Rangiroa, 221 miles from Tahiti, the main island of French Polynesia, a large territory made of islands that cover over two millions square miles of the South Pacific Ocean. Closest vineyards are located in New Zealand, Chili, Australia or California, that is to say more than 3,500 miles away.
French Polynesia, is made of more than a hundred islands or atolls, all located in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, more than 3,107 miles from the closest continent. The total land area above sea level is 1622 square miles spread out over an area equivalent to the one of Europe
Rangiroa is located in the Tuamotu Archipelago. It is one of the largest atolls in the whole Pacific ocean. The entire island of Tahiti could fit inside its lagoon. It is 50 miles long and 20 miles large when measured at its largest. The two most important villages of Rangiroa are Avatoru and Tiputa. Rangiroa has more than 2,000 inhabitants and is the most populated atoll of the archipelago. Thanks to its airport, Rangiroa is only 45 minutes away from Tahiti and well serviced with several daily flights.
Several family pensions and hotels welcome and accommodate the large numbers of tourists visiting Rangiroa all year round.
The winery is located right in the center of the village of Avatoru near the quay where the schooners dock. The Estate vineyard itself is located west of the Avatoru pass, 2.8 miles as the crow flies. It takes a boat ride followed by a 4x4 vehicle ride to access the vineyard.
